FC Basel 1893 sign 28-year-old Ivory Coast International, Seydou Doumbia on loan from AS Roma. Doumbia signed a 1-year deal with the option of permanent transfer.
The Ivory Coast International who played for his country on 33 occasions started his career in his homeland at FC Athletic Adamé, before transferring to ASEC Mimosa and AS Denguélé on loan. In 2006 Seydou moved to Japan for two years, then moved to Switzerland where he played for BSC Young Boys and became top scorer of the Swiss league, twice.
In 2010 the 1.78m tall offensive player moved to Russian giants ZSKA Moscow, where he played for 5 years. Doumbia won the Russian League 3 times and the Russian Cup twice. He was top scorer of the Russian League; not once but twice! In 2015 Doumbia signed a four-year deal at AS Roma then moved to ZSKA Moscow on loan in August 2015, then to Newcastle United in February 2016.
Doumbia will play with shirt number 88.
